106 KMEL-FM's Award-Winning Street Soldiers Syndicated Program Now Available on Podcast

San Francisco, CA — March 5, 2007 — Dr. Joseph Marshall, executive director and co-founder of the Omega Boys Club, announced that weekly episodes of KMEL-FM's Street Soldiers are now available for download on the Web. Street Soldiers is an award-winning, syndicated radio call-in talk show addressing the pressing issues that young people face, particularly those related to keeping neighborhoods and communities safe. Street Soldiers is broadcast each Sunday on KMEL 106 FM from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The radio show is heard on 12 radio stations nationwide. The list is available at http://www.street-soldiers.org/ss_affiliates2.htm

"Podcasting allows our audience to tune in when they have time. Teachers, community organizers and parents can now download episodes of the weekly program to use when and where they are needed," said Marshall. "The show's content is a valuable resource that can be used to establish a dialogue concerning the issues affecting our communities," he added. "We are excited to share the Street Soldiers radio program with a broader audience."

Episodes of Street Soldiers are currently available for download, and are free of charge. Podcasts are easily downloaded onto a personal computer and then transferred to an iPod or MP3 player. To access Street Soldiers podcasts, go to an iTunes store, search street soldiers radio and click on the Street Soldiers episode you want to download.

The Omega Boys Club of San Francisco was founded by former educators Joseph Marshall and Jack Jacqua in response to the increasing number of inner city youth dropping out of school and being incarcerated or killed. Omega's mission is to keep people alive and free, unharmed by violence and free from incarceration. To provide youth with opportunity and support to build positive lives for themselves and move into contributing roles in society. Over 20 years, Omega has transformed the lives of thousands of at-risk mostly African American young women and men, helping them succeed in school and life. Youth who once had no dreams for their futures are living productive lives. To date, 117 Omegas have graduated from college and 52 more are currently enrolled.
