Omega Students Visit HBCUs
Omega brought ten of its Omega College Prep Class students on a tour of four Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) March 2-6, 2011. Omega Math Teacher and Academy Coordinator, Ms. Demetra Scoby traveled with the students. The historically black colleges and universities visited were:
- Florida A&M University
- Clark Atlanta University
- Morehouse College
- Spelman College
At the schools, professors and undergraduates met with the aspiring Omega collegians to share do's and don'ts about their particular school, as well as popular majors, sports, housing information and things that can be done both on and off campus to keep them busy. The group also toured the
Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic site in Atlanta. This included a visit to the birth home of Dr. King, Ebenezer Baptist Church, and the crypt of Dr. and Mrs. King.
